Carol Johnson Davis
Carol Johnson Davis serves as executive director for the Diabetes Association of Atlanta. Her role is to ensure the association’s mission is accomplished through improving the quality of life for people with diabetes through education, screening and medical assistance in a caring, responsive way. Davis received her undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her juris doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law. Additionally, she has received training as a mediator.
Mrs. Davis is active in numerous civic organizations. She serves on the board of the Youth Ensemble of Atlanta and is a member of Hoosier Memorial United Methodist Church; and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Mrs. Davis is married to Dr. Edward L. Davis, Dean of the Business School at Clark Atlanta University. They have one son Brian, age 23. Brian was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 10. The Davis family has been extensively involved in the study of the management for diabetes and is committed to the cure and the improved quality of life for individuals with similar conditions.
Sarah Piper
Sarah Piper received her Bachelor’s from Arizona State University and her Masters in Public Health from Emory University. She is a public health educator and certified diabetes educator (CDE) with over 12 years of experience in patient education. Mrs. Piper is currently the diabetes education coordinator for the Diabetes Association of Atlanta which entails coordinating the Medical Assistance Program, speaking to businesses, churches, and schools about diabetes prevention and diabetes management, and coordinating the Diabetes Education classes.
Prior to coming to the DAA, Mrs. Piper has worked in a large urban hospital, a rural Navajo reservation, and non-profit clinic. Mrs. Piper is very passionate about helping other to understand and take control of their health.
Andrea Maxwell
Andrea Maxwell is currently the Healthy Habits and Screening Coordinator with the Diabetes Association of Atlanta. She graduated with a Masters in Social Work from Clark Atlanta University and a Bachelors of Art in Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama.
As the Healthy Habits Coordinator, Andrea works with youth by providing classes that educate them about diabetes and how to prevent type 2 diabetes through proper eating and exercise. She along with Kelli Andrews assists with the DAA screening program.
Prior to working with DAA, Andrea has worked with youth as a juvenile probation officer for Fulton County, in-home therapist for families of children with behavioral challenges and with foster care youth and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta.
Andrea also has a strong background in fitness training from having worked as a trainer with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and an aerobics instructor with the YMCA of Atlanta.
Kelli Andrews
Kelli Andrews is a graduate from Clark Atlanta University and majored in mass communications. She has been with the Diabetes Association of Atlanta for two years and serves as an office coordinator, she assists with the many projects DAA has including Diabetes University, Downtown DASH for Diabetes and the community screenings.
Karla Daniels
Karla Daniels serves as the Development Contractor for the Diabetes Association of Atlanta. Her duties include fundraising, event planning and grant writing activities to support the programmatic work of the organization. Her non profit career has included working at CARE USA, Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and currently, the Diabetes Association of Atlanta, Inc.

She is a graduate of Emory University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a minor in English. She also attended Emory’s Teacher Preparation Program for Secondary Education where she student taught at Cross Keys High School and Shiloh Middle School.
Karla has worked in Sales and Marketing for KPMG, United Health Care, and Resurgent’s Risk Management. For the past nine years she has established a career in the non profit industry in the areas of fundraising, event planning and grant writing.
