Eric Borders, Board Chair

With a focus on increasing its educational outreach and providing enhanced support for people living with diabetes in metro Atlanta, the Diabetes Association of Atlanta has named a new chairman of its board of directors, added a board member, and has named a director of development.

Carol Johnson Davis, Executive Director, said the new personnel changes are designed to strengthen and expand the association's service delivery and grow its financial support throughout its 13-county Atlanta region.

Ms. Davis announced the following new personnel:

  • Eric Borders, Chairman of the board of directors
  • Eric Koontz, Member of the board of directors
  • Greg Kellison, Development director

Borders, a former executive with BellSouth and Booz Allen Hamilton, is currently President of Cire Consulting LLC, which provides strategic management and technology consulting services for commercial, public sector, and non-profit clients.

"The Diabetes Association of Atlanta is at a critical point in its organizational growth and development," said Borders. "My key goals for the organization are to provide the board leadership needed to implement market-based service initiatives, elevate fund-raising capabilities, and attract additional civic and community-oriented members to our board."

Koontz is an Associate in the Securities and Capital Markets Group at Troutman Sanders LLP here in Atlanta, where he has worked since 1999.

Kellison, the former director of development for Samaritan House of Atlanta, has held sales management and business development positions with several of the top software companies in the world.

"Aside from raising funds for the association, one of my goals in this new position is to build on the strengths and talents of the board and executive director, helping to lead the organization to its next level of positive community impact. Leading the fundraising and development initiative to raise awareness about the impact of diabetes and the related human and economic costs is both an honor and a challenge."
